Non-traditional jobs
This morning I led a short discussion about non-traditional jobs. What is this?
Well, a traditional job is where
- An employer creates a job description
- They open up the job and select the best candidate
- In return for doing the work, the employee receives a predictable (if variable) income

What’s your definition of a job?
- It’s what I have to do, in order to make money to do what I want to do.
- It’s doing what someone else wants.
- It’s giving value to others so that they’ll give me money.
Most definitions tend to leave out any sense of enjoyment or fulfillment.

If you currently have a job, congratulations. But recognize that you’re NOT going to have that job at some point in the future.
Given the state of the job market these days, that transition is probably sooner than you’d like it to be.
It might happen as job loss, reorganization, retirement, or even a change that you elect. But it’s coming.
