The “before” picture, as we’re checking out colors for the cabinets and countertops
July 10: Moving the refrigerator back 5 inches, moving the wall into the garage
August 14: Artwork in process (Chelsea Glanz, Chelsea Glanz Art)
September 7: Artwork is painted, glazed, fired, and laid out on the floor! But we’re going to have to wait a while.
September 22nd: Now we’re getting serious about taking the kitchen down to the studs. Eating off paper plates now!
September 26: But the REAL inconvenience is not having a sink. Notice that we now have the wonderful lights from Light Center! We have to take the drywall off because of all the changes to the electrical and plumbing.
October 3: We have our Tharp cabinets! Well, at least in the garage.
October 7: The cabinet installation begins. Notice that I’ve replaced all the drywall.
October 8: And Todd did all the installation himself!
The following day, our countertop maker went out of business. So back to square one on THAT story.
October 16: Bryan and I have put in most of the lighting now.
You can see the coffee/tea station over on the west wall. Fancy door handles, huh?
November 26: The countertop installers from Castorena’s did all their work in half a day! The material is Quartzite, with a satin finish. We’re very happy we did the under-mounted sink. This is two days before Thanksgiving.
December 1: So Thanksgiving weekend was spent installing the tiles (all day Friday) and adding the grout (Sunday afternoon). The project has come to fruition!
If you’re wondering about the painting in the upper left … In 2020, we donated Nancy’s parents’ piano to the City of Fort Collins for their Pianos About Town project. That is the painting which the artist, Kristen Vohs, had used in her proposal to the city. We’re honored! Here’s her picture of the piano:
We’re honored to recognize and appreciate the work of Chelsea!
