The power of accountability

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Most people resist the word “accountability.”  This poor term has been so beaten and battered over the last 20 years that nobody wants to talk about it anymore – much less be held accountable for something.

But I’m going to take this head-on.

Mentally disconnected

Right now, I’m seeing a big gap in the employment marketplace – but probably not what you think.  I’m seeing a rapidly growing number of advertised jobs (in October?  Go figure!) with a huge number of people still out of work.

Here’s the actual gap:  Many, many people aren’t actually looking for work – at least not as diligently as they once were.

Every human has had 24 hours a day since the dawn of time.  So you can’t argue that you’re out of time, just that you’re not using it all that effectively.

It just doesn’t feel right, but I don’t know why.

A Springtime Attitude

Here at the foot of the Rockies in Colorado, spring is definitely arriving.  We need more rainfall, to be sure, but the trees and flowers are budding.  It’s so nice to be able to let the breeze flow through our house during the day.

This helps me to realize that there is a time for rebirth – not only in nature, but in my work, family, and spiritual life as well.  It’s time to take advantage of this and change my attitude. (more…)
