No doubt many of you have heard about a book and movie called\u00a0The Secret<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s fascinating stuff, but very New Agey.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The key message is the Law of Attraction.\u00a0 Some people interpret this law simplisticly as \u201cWhatever you want, if you put the right vibrations out there, the universe will give it to you.\u00a0 Guaranteed.\u201d\u00a0 You see what I mean by New Agey.<\/p>\n

I had an opportunity to attend a nationwide broadcast last night called\u00a0Beyond The Secret<\/span><\/a>, which was a panel of experts talking about how to address issues that people run into with putting the Law of Attraction to work in their lives.\u00a0 It was thought-provoking for me, but more to reinforce what I already know.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m an engineer by nature.\u00a0 So I don\u2019t tend to be very impressed by these ideas of thought waves and vibrations and cosmic forces.\u00a0 But I have been around long enough to know that there are plenty of unexplained things in our world, and I find that fascinating.<\/p>\n

When I strip away all the mysticism away from this, I end up with a few conclusions which are, for me, key founding principles:<\/p>\n

  1. If you articulate something very clearly and in detail, you\u2019re much more likely to achieve it.\u00a0 You might call that creating a vision and plan.<\/li>\n
  2. If you put consistent energy into achieving your clear objective, results are going to happen.\u00a0 You might call\u00a0 that executing a plan.<\/li>\n
  3. Things are going to happen that surprise you, and you have to decide how to respond and adjust.\u00a0 You might call that learning.<\/li>\n
  4. People are capable of much more than they usually give themselves credit for, and it\u2019s their\u00a0perceived<\/em>\u00a0barriers that get in the way more often than actual barriers.\u00a0 With energy and creativity, you can often surprise yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In the end, I believe that the Law of Attraction is actually true, but not using the language that people often put around it.\u00a0 It\u2019s logical and self-evident and demonstrably true.<\/p>\n

    So what about that \u201cput the vibrations out there and the universe will give it to you\u201d?\u00a0 The key piece that\u2019s missing – which they talked about at the broadcast last night – is that you have to WORK AT IT.\u00a0 Once you have an objective and a plan, you have to WORK.\u00a0 Hard.\u00a0 Consistently.\u00a0 Through the barriers.<\/p>\n

    But, you know, that\u2019s what my parents taught me too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
