After 31 years with HP, I spent today (and most of this week) conveying my thanks and best wishes to all the friends I’ve made over the years.\u00a0 I’m not totally separated from the company quite yet – I have a few weeks in which it’s possible that I’ll find a job – but today I had to leave the site and leave HP’s e-mail system.<\/p>\n
So I’m off looking at my life outside HP.<\/p>\n
One of the things that I find rather strange, actually, is that I tend to make a lot of progress on my decisions when I talk with people.\u00a0 So as I’ve had to answer the question “What are you going to do next?” several hundred times in the last month, things have become more clear in my mind.<\/p>\n
And better yet, my confidence in myself has grown, as has my optimism.\u00a0 Some of that is built upon the amazing support that I’ve received from all my friends and co-workers, both inside and outside the company.<\/p>\n
I think this is part of the magic of coaching.\u00a0 You bring things to life through conversation, and by declaring your intentions to another person, they become more real, more within reach.<\/p>\n
This is why I love coaching.\u00a0 Real things happen.\u00a0 Valuable, life-changing things.<\/p>\n
