It’s not uncommon to get advice about taking on the contractor’s mindset, even when you’re a corporate employee.\u00a0 Heck, I wrote an article about that<\/a>myself a couple of years ago.But I’ve been working more with entrepreneurs lately, people who are shooting for something much larger than just landing their next job.\u00a0 Here’s some things we can be learning from them:<\/p>\n
    \n
  • Always be on the lookout<\/strong>:\u00a0 Entrepreneurs constantly scan the horizon for opportunities, their deepest joy being the day that they spot something with huge potential before the rest of the world.<\/li>\n
  • No such thing as a barrier<\/strong>:\u00a0 Anything is possible, even the impossible.\u00a0 What others see as obstacles are just slightly more difficult problems to solve.<\/li>\n
  • Think big<\/strong>:\u00a0 It’s not too outrageous to believe that one person can change the world, given focus and dedication.<\/li>\n
  • It’s up to me<\/strong>:\u00a0 Waiting for others to do what you need is just setting yourself up for frustration.\u00a0 If something’s important and not getting done, just do it.<\/li>\n
  • Have fun<\/strong>:\u00a0 Entrepreneurs tend to really enjoy what they’re doing, to a large degree because they put so much passion into it.\u00a0 Why not dedicate your energy to something that you believe in if you know you can achieve it and have a rockin’ good time?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In the end, succeeding as an entrepreneur is much more about shifting the mindset, dedicating your self with passion, and applying good old fashioned hard work.<\/p>\n

    Yes, sometimes it seems that the corporate environment is designed to squash this out.\u00a0 And in many ways it is.\u00a0 But if you want to have a successful career, you need to commit to take initiative and do this anyway.<\/p>\n

    You don’t need to go out and start a new company in order to succeed.<\/p>\n

    But maybe, if you want to change the world, you might just have to.<\/p>\n
